Sapphire Metallic, Coffee interior trim, the reliable 4.0 six-in-line, a perfect combination!
This Daimler was preceded by e-mail contact for a year and a half. And that while it was only 1000 meters away, here in Oirschot. Well, in the end the seller and I agreed! After much and especially nice work (read about it here), the Daimler is now for sale.
Originally the Six was delivered in Belgium. Many years later the second owner imported it into the Netherlands, a common situation. This owner, a real enthusiast, had several Daimlers and therefore drove very limited with every car, which resulted in the attractive mileage.
The Six has a beautiful color; Sapphire Metallic. The interior is made of beautiful leather with a contrasting trim. Beautiful but also unique. The combination of the Coffee interior trim with the sapphire blue exterior is special. Of course you will find burr walnut in abundance; even the steering wheel and the shift knob are made of wood. Burr wallnut that normally loses its deep color and shine due to the influence of UV light. Not with this Six, the woodwork looks beautiful, is in new condition.
You will rarely find a Jaguar or Daimler in this condition. For me it is the most beautiful Daimler Six that I have had in the collection. The paintwork is deep dark blue and virtually free of damage. The chrome work is in top condition, window frames are neatly in place. No parking dents present. A beautiful and original Daimler ornament on the bonnet. A nice mileage. And the interior, as has already been mentioned, is really in mint condition.
Daimler, that means ultimate luxury. The distinction with the most luxurious Jaguar XJ member, the Sovereign, can be found in chrome mirror covers, chrome handles, a more luxurious ribbed grille and trunk handle. Fine leather covers the interior even more. And not to be missed are the wallnut tables in the back, with chrome hinges, beautiful! At that time, a Jaguar or Daimler could be ordered with a Long Wheel Base body. The Daimler was not simply extended by “sticking some space in between”, but the entire body was tackled. In comparison with the Short Wheel Base, the roof line differs considerably, so you also have some extra headspace. The longer wheelbase further results in no less than 10 centimeters extra legspace. Do you still have the idea that you are a bit tight on your comfortable back seat, then you just put the front seat a little forward. Cumbersome? No, you just operate it from the back seat.
The engine is the reliable four-liter six-in-line, which runs large numbers of kilometers without problems. So you don’t have to worry about that.
Of course, the Daimler has been extensively maintained before it was even started. Fresh oil and coolant, new filters, among other things. During this maintenance it was noticed that the chassis looks very neat, there are no strange things noticed.
The automatic transmission shifts smoothly, the suspension feels solid. A “singing” differential is a well-known ailment of the X300 Jaguars and Daimlers. The differential of this Daimler is silent, inaudible.
The exterior is in a very good condition. No rust is visible under the rear window. The chrome on both bumpers, which is becoming scarce these days, is in very good condition. The original Daimler Turbine rims look mint and the Six is placed on four very nice Michelin winter tires with good tread.
An X300 is often seen as Jaguars ’most reliable XJ. Due to the relatively short production period, the model is now also becoming scarce; a good example is increasingly difficult to find. It goes without saying that an X300 is a good investment.
For its time you naturally find a lot of luxury in the Daimler. It is equipped with an electrically operated and tilting sliding roof, electrically operated seats, Climate Control and a Jaguar radio. Less obvious are, for example, the electrically adjustable depth and height steering wheel. Even the headrests are electrically adjustable.
The Daimler will be delivered with a brand new MOT, valid until November 2021. For implementation of this MOT, the front springs will be replaced for new ones in the coming week. Both defective, you wonder? No, but springs are not replaced individually, always in pairs. At least, if you want to do it the right way!
The service folder is of course present, complete with a fully completed maintenance booklet.
Come on, there must be something to complain about, you would say? Certainly, although the headliner does not yet release severely, a sagging headliner is on its way. We can, if necessary, remedy this immediately upon purchase.
There is still much to say about this Daimler, but of course you only get a good view when you visit us to take look at the car and drive it. You are very welcome in Oirschot, coffee is ready.
