The Suzuki Jimny – The Perfect All-Rounder for the Mediterranean Islands.
You’ll find Suzuki Jimnys all over the world. Still, it took some searching to find the right one for our needs on the Spanish island. Four people, four wishes: air conditioning, convertible, tow bar, 4×4. Reliability was a must, of course, and we had a specific budget in mind. We quickly agreed it had to be a Jimny – but a convertible with air conditioning? That’s a rare find!
Eventually, we found the perfect one in Düsseldorf. No problem – we sealed the deal and planned the pickup. Upon arrival, we had the car thoroughly serviced at Saris 4×4, a Suzuki Jimny specialist. Then came the drive to Spain, and the car was registered on Spanish plates. We’ve enjoyed it for four years – and now it’s time for a new owner to take the wheel of this clever four-seat 4×4 convertible.
The Jimny has been well maintained over the past four years. We have all invoices for servicing from day one to today. Just last year, most of the air conditioning system was replaced.
In total, we’ve driven 15,000 km in the past four years – not a lot. When not in use, the car was always stored in a dry, covered garage. The red paint is still vibrant, not faded or discolored, and the chassis is still truly black – not brown with rust.
The Suzuki drives exactly as it should, with no unusual vibrations or issues. The extra steering damper makes it a comfortable drive, without sudden jerks through the steering wheel. The tires are in good condition – the rear ones were replaced 15,000 km ago and still have plenty of tread. The manual gearbox shifts smoothly with no hiccups, and the clutch is in good shape – it was replaced at some point in the past.
The Spanish ITV (vehicle inspection) will be renewed this year – either before delivery or by June at the latest.
Are there any downsides? Of course – it’s not a new car. The low-range gearing doesn’t work. We never had it repaired because we never needed it – low-range is only used in extreme off-road situations and not for everyday driving. It doesn’t affect anything else. A second point is a small rust spot just under the rear right corner of the roof – a common issue with these Jimnys. It’s minor, and we can provide photos if you like.
All in all, a great, reliable Suzuki with just the right features. A fresh color, clear headlights, nice wheels, and a great-looking interior – what more could you want?
I could go on – but it’s better if you just come and see it for yourself. You’re very welcome here on Ibiza – the coffee’s ready!
