30 years of Range Rover. The 30th Anniversary. Just 200 examples of this unique P38 were produced.

Range Rover is an icon by design. From the moment it was introduced in 1969, the luxurious and remarkably comfortable off-roader was a great success. The original model remained in production for no less than 27 years. From 1994 onwards, it became known as the Range Rover Classic, as its successor had arrived: the P38A. Named after the Pegasus project, built in Block 38A at Solihull.

The P38 remained in production until 2002. A relatively short production run, making it an increasingly rare model today. Good examples are becoming scarce. Properly maintained, they are reliable classics and wonderful long-distance companions. Misjudged by those who either do not know them, or only know the neglected examples, often maintained with more thrift than sense. Where have we heard that before? Exactly. The other sweet spot: Jaguar.

Now to this particular example. Extremely rare, being a 30th Anniversary, and originally supplied new in the Netherlands. By this time Range Rover had reached its 30th birthday, and to celebrate, the 30th Anniversary edition was created. Just 200 were produced, reportedly 100 left-hand drive and 100 right-hand drive. Finished in Wimbledon Green, a colour exclusive to the 30th Anniversary. The bumpers and mirror caps were painted in body colour, something otherwise reserved at the time for the Autobiography models.

And then there is the interior. Quite simply wonderful. Classic Green leather with Lightstone piping. The steering wheel is finished in the same two-tone combination, also unique to the Anniversary models. Then there is the Burr Maple veneer. Real wood, real craftsmanship.

Naturally, the mileage of this P38 is not insignificant. But view and drive this unique Range Rover and you will be genuinely surprised. Both its road manners and its appearance suggest something very different. There is virtually nothing in the way it looks or drives that gives away the experience this P38 has already gathered. Proper maintenance is the foundation of that. After the previous owner, a true enthusiast, had already addressed much of the technical work, we acquired the Range Rover after several years.

From the very beginning, everything was done to elevate this already beautiful and well-kept Range Rover to an even higher standard. The headlining, previously sagging as so often happens on a P38, has been replaced and is now beautifully finished in Alcantara. The steering wheel received the same level of attention; not repainted or cosmetically repaired, but entirely retrimmed in stunning new leather, in exactly the correct colour combination. Pure craftsmanship.

The sunroof was repaired and, naturally, extensive maintenance has been carried out throughout. The list of work completed is extensive. A pleasure to undertake, if you ask me. Try finding a P38 in this sort of condition today, let alone a genuine Anniversary.

Both the leather upholstery and the wood veneer remain in remarkably good condition. The seat bolsters still retain their proper shape. Even the carpets are still original and well preserved. We had the wheels professionally refinished and coated; they now present beautifully once again and are fitted with four new genuine Land Rover centre emblems. Various exterior trim pieces at the front, including the grille and headlamp surrounds, have also been treated with a protective coating and remain in excellent condition. The air suspension operates exactly as it should. Increasingly rare.

Quality and maintenance. That is what matters. I could continue talking about this Range Rover for much longer, but there simply is not enough room in an advertisement. Study the photographs carefully and allow yourself to be surprised by both the condition and the exceptionally complete specification of this P38 30th Anniversary. Even the original 30th Anniversary badge on the tailgate is still present.

To keep things concise yet transparent, I will mention the few imperfections worth noting. The correct green Anniversary floor mats are missing. Genuine mats are still available from Land Rover, though no longer in the original colour. Both original Range Rover side steps show some corrosion and have slightly lost their shape. They can easily be removed if desired. The navigation system is no longer operational.

The Range Rover is supplied with two original keys. Naturally, all documentation is present, including the original service booklet.

There is still much more that could be said about this 30th Anniversary, but the best impression is gained behind the wheel. You are most welcome in Uden to view and experience the car for yourself. The coffee is ready.
