The most desirable Daimler in the world – the Daimler Century 1 of 100.

Simply unfindable. Simply unique.

A Daimler Century hardly needs an introduction; true connoisseurs already know exactly what it represents. Add to that the truly outstanding condition of this particular example, and you are looking at a once-in-a-lifetime Daimler. This is one you want to own.

In 1996, Daimler celebrated 100 years of heritage with two extraordinary commemorative models: the Daimler Century. Available with either the 4.0 straight-six or the majestic 6.0 V12, both exclusively delivered in Long Wheel Base configuration. The brief was clear: to create the most luxurious, most comprehensively specified Daimler ever built. Exclusivity was paramount, with just 100 examples produced of each engine variant worldwide.

Everything about the Daimler Century radiates quality and refinement. Distinctive turbine alloy wheels, black Century badges with gold inlay, and walnut veneer of the very highest grade, again inlaid with the Century emblem. Almost every interior surface is trimmed in exceptionally soft, full aniline leather. The Harman Kardon sound system delivers 240 watts through nine speakers, offering performance that was exceptional even by modern standards.

Uniquely, the Century features memory adjustment not only for the driver’s seat, but also for the fully electric front passenger seat – something never seen before on a Daimler of this era. While rear captain’s chairs officially debuted in 1997 with the introduction of the X308, Daimler gave the Century pride of place: electrically adjustable and heated individual rear seats, each headrest finished with the Daimler emblem. Even the recessed vanity mirrors in the headlining, subtly angled towards each rear passenger, underline the level of thought and craftsmanship.

Finished in the magnificent colour Spruce Green, this Century simply has it. Interior, exterior and suspension are all in exceptional condition. No stone chips, no parking dents, virtually no blemishes whatsoever. This tells a clear story: careful use, genuine appreciation, and meticulous ownership. Without question, this is a Daimler worthy of serious consideration as both a driving pleasure and a long-term investment.

Originally supplied new in Belgium, this Century came into our care two years ago, after which extensive servicing was carried out. Its next custodian did not hesitate; Philipp recognised its significance immediately and acquired the car before it was ever publicly advertised.

The colour combination is as rare as it is elegant. Spruce Green exterior paired with a Silk White leather interior that appears scarcely touched. Leather is found everywhere, even on the door panels, creating an atmosphere that is both opulent and remarkably special. Naturally, the cabin is completed by an abundance of beautifully finished walnut veneer, each piece hand-inlaid with the Century logo.

This Daimler has been owned by true enthusiasts. Remarkably, the complete original press and service pack is present, including the original Belgian purchase invoice. Details like this elevate an already exceptional automobile into something truly complete.

A Daimler Century is rare by definition. One in this condition, with this provenance, is nothing short of extraordinary.

A delightful detail deserves special mention. The original purchase invoice reveals a personal specification choice made by the first owner: instead of the chromed wheels normally supplied on a Century, he opted to have the car delivered on silver-painted alloys. Original, distinctive, and entirely in keeping with the character of this exceptional Daimler.

This particular Century has enjoyed an interesting journey. From its first owner, it found its way to us some years ago, after which I delivered the car to a German enthusiast. Through a former Goldman Sachs banker – now a valued and regular client – the Daimler has since returned to familiar territory, fully prepared for its next enthusiastic custodian.

On the road, the automatic transmission shifts smoothly and unobtrusively, while the suspension feels solid and well resolved. A “singing” differential is a known weakness of the X300-generation Jaguars and Daimlers; naturally, the differential in this Century is completely silent, exactly as it should be.

It is immediately apparent that both the chassis and the bodywork are in remarkably fine condition. Sills, wheel arch edges and all known critical areas are virtually free from corrosion. An exceptionally well-preserved example, especially considering its 28-year history. Unsurprisingly, this Century has generally been stored indoors.

Below the rear window, an area often prone to issues, there is no trace of corrosion – quite simply as new. The chrome on both bumpers, increasingly difficult to find in good condition today, is also in pristine order. And the headlamp washers, now virtually unobtainable, are present and correct on this car.

There is no doubt that this was a very special model from the outset. When new, a Daimler Six Century carried a price tag of NLG 247,000, while the Double Six left Coventry at NLG 260,000 – figures that, in today’s terms, are comparable to the cost of a new Bentley.

You can easily imagine just how rare a Daimler Century truly is. Only 200 examples were produced worldwide. How many remain today? That is anyone’s guess.

This Century is supplied with Dutch registration. As mentioned, the original service folder is present, along with invoices for previous maintenance. The most recent service was carried out at 208,238 kilometres. In 2026, the front catalytic converter was replaced.

One year ago, prior to delivery to the current owner, extensive maintenance was undertaken. Both rear silencers were replaced, along with six injectors, the fuel pressure regulator and the in-tank fuel pump. The car is fully prepared for its next owner.

Are there any drawbacks? In truth, just one – and it is not immediately noticeable. The driver’s side floor mat is missing. The remaining three lambswool mats are present, all complete with the Century logo.

There is much more that could be said about this remarkable Daimler Century, but a true impression can only be gained by seeing and driving the car for yourself. You are most welcome to visit us in Uden; the coffee will be ready.
