Jaguar XJ Sport, the highly desirable 4.0 straight-six, finished in a beautiful colour combination.
It was already three years ago that I sold this lovely XJ to its current owner, a true enthusiast. At the time, the car showed 263,000 kilometres. Several years of enjoyable motoring followed, with maintenance carried out properly and on time. Now the moment has come to move on to a more modern Jaguar; the X300 has made way for an X350.
Although the mileage has since increased to 310,000 kilometres, this remains a pleasant, well-driving XJ. It also presents very well, particularly the interior, which looks exactly as it should: clean, original and not worn out.
Power comes from the reliable 3980 cc straight-six engine, well known for covering very high mileages without issues. The automatic gearbox shifts smoothly, and the suspension feels solid and confidence-inspiring. Being the Sport version, the chassis is slightly firmer, giving the XJ a wonderfully sporty driving character.
The headlining was refurbished in the past and therefore still looks neat. There is remarkably little rust to be found on the underside and around the wheel arches. The MOT has recently been renewed and passed without any remarks.
The X300 is often regarded as Jaguar’s most reliable XJ. Due to its relatively short production run, the model is now becoming increasingly scarce; finding a good example is getting harder by the year. It goes without saying that an X300 in this condition represents a sound investment.
Naturally, the original service book is present, complete with a fully stamped maintenance history. In addition, there is a folder containing numerous documents, including maintenance and service invoices.
The key set consists of two keys, both with a functioning original remote control.
Are there any downsides, you may wonder? The ABS warning light is illuminated, a well-known and common issue. Another point to note is that the clear coat is peeling on the horizontal surfaces; areas without clear coat can be found on the bonnet and roof.
There is much more to say about this XJ, but the best impression is, of course, gained by seeing and driving the car in person. You are most welcome in Uden, the coffee is ready.
