The previous owner clearly valued quality. Some time ago, he acquired a fine Porsche and part-exchanged his Series 3 XJ. What emerged was something rather special: a truly delightful driver’s classic. All mechanical matters are fully up to date, and that makes a significant difference, as deferred maintenance is often the norm with these cars. This example stands apart. Major servicing has been carried out in recent years, and a comprehensive maintenance history accompanies the car, including the original service book and a substantial file of invoices.
A brief summary of the principal works undertaken: the torque converter has been rebuilt; both fuel tanks have been renewed; fuel lines and hoses replaced; and the braking system has been overhauled front and rear. In excess of €9,000 has been invested in maintenance over the past five years alone.

Naturally, any classic of over forty years will have minor imperfections. That is to be expected. In this case, they are limited. Crucially, there is no corrosion to the underside, often the most critical area on these cars. The underbody has been exceptionally well preserved: solid, clean and remarkably tidy. The engine bay presents equally well – clean and free from rust. Only minimal surface corrosion is visible beneath the paint at the front and rear screens, entirely consistent with the car’s age. This is motoring heritage in its purest form.
