An X300 XJR is the ultimate expression of the world’s most beautifully styled sedan.
This particular XJR in the stunning shade of British Racing Green simply has it all: the ultimate colour scheme, the potent and remarkably reliable AJ16 under the bonnet, complemented by the wonderfully sounding Eaton supercharger. Absolutely worth the investment, there can be no doubt about that.
Finished in the ultimate British Racing Green, the car’s sporting interior features beautiful Ivory leather combined with dark Birdseye Maple veneer.
The condition of this XJR is relatively good. It comes from a true enthusiast, from whom I acquired the car. Due to emigration the R could no longer be kept, and now it is up to the next enthusiast to further refine and perfect the XJR, more on that later.
The car presents as highly original: an original Jaguar radio is still present, as well as the distinctive 17-inch wheels specific to the X300 R. The exhaust tips, however, have at some point been replaced by items from renowned Jaguar tuner Arden.
The headlining has already been addressed, so it is not sagging. The interior looks tidy and clean, with seats that remain supportive and comfortable.
Under the bonnet lies the proven 3980cc straight-six, an engine known to cover very high mileages without issue. The automatic gearbox shifts smoothly, and the suspension feels solid and reassuring.
The chrome on both bumpers, which is becoming increasingly rare these days, is also in good condition. The X300 is often regarded as Jaguar’s most reliable XJ. Due to its relatively short production run, the model is now becoming scarce, and finding a good example is getting harder and harder.
Are there any downsides, you might wonder? Yes, and I prefer to describe them as completely as possible to avoid surprises. In the case of this R, we are not talking about anything dramatic. There is very little rust on the underside and no dents or major damage. The main points are a slightly noisy differential, not overly disturbing but audible. Some rust is visible on both rear wheel arches, technically not an issue, though visually less attractive. The button for the mirror adjustment has broken off, and the car feels a little soft on the rear springs. A scratch here, a small blemish there. Nothing insurmountable, but certainly worth mentioning. If you would like to get a clear impression, just request extra photos via WhatsApp and I will gladly send you the full set.
Do not take the above comments too heavily; believe me when I say that the average example available online is in far worse condition, often with higher asking prices.
The XJR will be delivered with a fresh Dutch MOT, valid until July 2026. We have carried out a basic service so the new owner can take to the road with confidence. Naturally, the service folder is included, complete with a fully stamped maintenance book.
The key set consists of a main key with original remote, supplemented by a green valet key.
