This generation XK, known internally as the X150, is a particularly rewarding one. Its classically proportioned body is constructed entirely from aluminium, making it lighter than its predecessor while preserving the elegance Jaguar intended. The interior offers noticeably more space, and the seats themselves are larger and more accommodating than those of the previous generation.
At its heart remains the much-loved AJ-V8. In this example the engine appears in its 4.2-litre configuration, further refined and paired with a beautifully smooth six-speed automatic gearbox that suits the character of the car perfectly.
And the sound of that V8 is exactly what one hopes for. Deep, confident and unmistakably eight-cylinder. Driven gently, the engine settles into the background while remaining pleasantly audible. Push the revs during a more spirited drive and the V8 opens its voice, the twin exhausts just behind you delivering a rich mechanical soundtrack. A proper grand touring companion.
Originally delivered in the Netherlands and subsequently maintained year after year by Jaguar dealers and specialists — precisely the history one hopes to see with a car of this kind. Continuing that tradition, the coupé received a comprehensive service upon arrival, including fresh gearbox oil and a new transmission filter. Naturally, the MOT inspection has also been renewed.
Visually, this XK presents beautifully. Finished in deep Ebony Black, with rich Burr Walnut veneer throughout the interior. The seats are trimmed in Ebony leather and remain in very good condition. A particularly elegant and sporting combination.
Maintenance has clearly never been spared on this car. You notice it immediately — in the way it drives, the way it feels, and the way it presents itself. Drive over a poor road surface and the Jaguar remains composed and solid, something that cannot always be said for the average example on the market. Unstable road manners, worn steering wheels, tired driver’s seats… all too common. This XK is quite the opposite.
The documentation folder accompanies the car. Two keys are present, one of which has a functioning remote control.
You may naturally wonder whether there are any imperfections. As with any car that has been used and enjoyed over the years, some signs of use are inevitable — although in this case they remain limited. The most noticeable point is some aluminium corrosion present on a few edges and corners of the bodywork, visible as small bubbles beneath the paint. They are barely noticeable in the photographs, but I would be pleased to provide detailed images upon request.
The tyres are relatively recent Michelin items. They do produce a slight rolling noise, though it is not particularly intrusive.
As mentioned earlier, the coupé drives exceptionally well. The gearbox shifts smoothly, the engine runs beautifully and faultlessly, and the overall driving experience is exactly what one hopes for. Quite simply, a pleasure to drive — a true classic in the making.
An additional advantage is that this Jaguar has previously been company-owned, meaning that VAT is reclaimable for business buyers.
