The most special member of the XJ line, in the most special version. Coupe. Daimler.

There are many beautiful and rare XJ’s, but the Daimler Sovereign Coupe takes the cake. The same wheelbase as the Serie II Saloon from that ages, but equipped with only two doors and a so-called ‘pillarless’ frame. Hard to find, especially in this condition.

That is one of the reasons for an article about this classic a few years ago, with the completed renovation as subject. It took a year to get the Daimler into this one, and it shows.

Take a look at the beautiful roofline, with the newly covered vinyl. The beautiful paintwork, exactly as original original in Squardron Blue. The interior is made of Biscuit leather, all this looks great on the coupe. Côte d’Azur, that is what the Coupe radiates. The glassware on the flanks completely down and touring through the Cannes or Saint Tropez. Not then?

You cannot reach Cannes with every classic, but only with the best. Specialists’ maintenance guarantees the ultimate oldtimer experience. For this reason, extensive maintenance has also been carried out on this Daimler. All technical matters that require attention have been addressed by the specialist. Of course, the MOT has been renewed. The result is: ‘Get out and drive!’. That’s what they’re made for; pure enjoyment!

Only around 16oo Daimler Coupe 4.2 have rolled off the production line. This low production total with the fact that many have been lost over the years makes the value of the Daimler Coupe. It has been steadily increasing for years. This keeps our hobby doable, right?

The paintwork of the Coupe is in very good condition and the quality of the paintwork is high, which you don’t see often these days. The leather upholstery is really in new condition. Executed in the beautiful color Biscuit, it contrasts very nicely with the sea blue paintwork.

The carpet is original and in very good condition. Door seals feel good and show no cracks or breaks. The headlining was of course also renewed during the comprehensive restoration.

Then the details… The beautiful decorative strips on both sides, very rare. The beautiful chrome, the good looking, original rims. The graceful Daimler logos and emblems complete the look.

And what a pleasure it is when you drive the Coupe. The handling is great and absolutely not comparable to the majority of the Jaguars and Daimlers offered from that time. Almost all parts have been renewed or overhauled, including shock absorbers and springs. You notice this in everything. It is a quiet Grand Tourer, this Daimler. Extremely comfortable suspension, but not heaving. Enough power to drive wonderfully low in revs.

Only dozens of left-hand drive Daimler Coupe’s were produced. For this reason, an international search has been made for a good basis for restoration, which was found in Great Britain. It is therefore originally an RHD copy, delivered with Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate. This Coupe was rebuilt from the bottom up to an LHD copy, with a great eye for originality and with a magnificent result!

As mentioned, major maintenance has been carried out by the specialists from our network and the Daimler has been fully checked. Nothing was left to chance to guarantee a wonderful driver’s car. This Daimler will not wait long for a new enthusiast as owner, or owner. You will understand that I am currently very happy to drive the Coupe myself, until that time.

You may wonder why images of the interior are missing. Easy; At the moment there is still a modern car radio installed in the Daimler. In my view, this detracts from the interior and so we replace it before we capture the beautiful interior. Understandably, if you don’t have the patience for this, come and see the Coupe at our location and be amazed at the condition!

There is still much to be said about this unique Daimler, but of course you only get a good picture when you look at the car and drive it. you are most welcome in Oirschot, the coffee is ready.
