The MG T-Type is such a typical English Roadster; the beautiful chrome radiator, the elongated curve in the mudguards. Light weight, the wheels on the extreme corners. That’s the way it should be!

A beautiful classic to see. The enthusiasm increases during the first kilometers. In fact; I immediately returned to get my jacket, because it could take a little longer!

Because this is so much fun to drive, and to see. Driving is less spartan than its appearance suggests; but that has more to do with the quality of the restoration instead of the year of construction. A professional has worked on this classic. A professional in the field of sheet metal, a professional in the field of spraying. If you are interested in it, you will see it immediately. Bonnet open. Once again the quality shines towards you, unprecedented. The interior; beautiful red leather, expertly processed. Everything looks like it was restored yesterday. The photos already betray this, just take a look at the inside of the mudguards. Or the condition of the leather upholstery. Beautiful!

It has been a costly restoration, it just radiates that. A new canvas hood, complete with canvas side windows and a beautiful tonneau cover. Beautiful woodwork, beautiful hand-painted door sills. I could go on like this for hours!

The MG TD was produced in 1952, England. Subsequently, the Roadster was exported to the USA, where a TD was also a welcome sight. The MG was only driven until 1957, after which it was stored for a long time. Today this worked out positively, because it allowed many original parts to be replaced after overhaul. Even the wooden frame on which the body is built is still original. Of course, this frame was also expertly restored. The MG has a hardtop, which can even be seen in early photos of the classic. However, this hardtop still needs work and has therefore not been included in the restoration. For example, the glassware and window rubbers are missing. Naturally, the complete restoration is documented with invoices, documents and photos.

All in all a great driving, well handling TD. Immediately after turning the key, the 1250cc engine starts. Everything works as it should, everything has been thought of. There are currently no points of interest. Are there no negatives at all, you wonder? In my view there is only one point worth mentioning; the lack of the original steering wheel. Although it was mounted during the restoration, it unfortunately got broken during use, a common situation. For this reason, a sturdy, classic-looking steering wheel has been mounted, as you often see with classics from these years.

There is still a lot to say about this MG TD, but you only get a good picture when you look at the car and drive it. you are most welcome in Oirschot, the coffee is ready.
